City need to keep going the distance after bright starts

Manchester City running out of steam after being the best team out of the starting blocks

City along with Arsenal and Bayern Munich, in Europe’s top five leagues, scored more goals in the opening 15 minutes of matches than anyone else, with 13

Brad Friedel joins elite club on the final day of the season.......

Tottenham's new goalkeeper Brad Friedel became the 21st player to reach 400 PL appearacnes on the final day of the season and you can also add to that a PL record of seven consecutive ever present seasons

He last missed a match in the 2003/04 season where after playing the first 36 matches of the season he missed the final two matches of the season, so his current run of consecutive games stands at 266

Who was the only outfield player to be an ever present for seocnd succcessive season? Clue played for Birmingham City!

Birmingham City defender Roger Johnson was a PL ever present for a second successive season the only outfield player to achieve this feat

Johnson has not missed a match since joining City in the Summer of 2009 from Cardiff City as the Blues Noses prepared for PL football

In his 76 PL matches he has only been substituted once

Johnson failed to score in his first seaosn but found the net twice last season but on the down side he also scored two own goals last season as well

Ashley Young - the Stats, check out which PL team he has failed to score against in 11 appearances?

Manchester United today completed the signing of Aston Villa winger Ashley Young, so lets check out his stats

Young made his PL debut for Watford in the 2006/07 season in the away match at Everton on the opening day of the season

Young scored his first PL goal when he bagged a brace in a 3-3 home draw with Fulham scoring the all important equalizer in the 90th minute

He moved to Villa in January 2007 and made his debut in the 3-1 defeat at Newcastle but did open his Villa account with a 25th minute strike

Birmingham and Blackpool find 39 points not enough - only three times has this been the case!

Birmingham and Blackpool both went down on 39 points, this has only happened in three seasons in the 16 seasons of 20 teams in the PL going back to 1995/96

West Ham United with 42 points in 2002/03 hold the record for most points be a relegated team

This is two more than the next two teams on the list who found 40 insufficient for survival, Bolton Wanderers in 1997/98 and Sunderland the season before

Arsenal take fourth with just 68 points! The lowest number for four years

Arsenal ended on 68 points to claim the fourth UCL place which is the lowest total for four seasons for entry into Europe's premier competition

Last season Spurs took 4th palce with 70 points, two years ago it was Arsenal on 72 points and three years ago Liverpool took fourth place with the highest 4th place total ever in the PL, 76 points

The most points a team has got and not qualified for the UCL was 67 by Manchester City last season, this season they only got four more points and took joint second on points with Chelsea!

.

United took the title with 80 points, in the previous six season's that would not have been good enough for second place

Manchester United took their 12th PL title with 80 points the lowest since 2000/01 when they also won the title

On just two occasions have teams won the PL with a lower points total since it went to a 38 match season back in 1995/96

On only three occasions have teams won the Pl wit less than 80 points and these were in consecutive seasons, 96/97 to 98/99

Best attack meets the worst defence with the defence needing the result! Can Blackpool dent the PL most impressive home record?

Man Utd lead the PL in scoring with 74 goals whilst Blackpool have the worst defensive record with 74 goals conceded

United are defending a fantastic home record this season with 17 wins and a draw in 18 matches taking 52 points out of a possible 54

They are the top scores at home in the PL with 45 goals and have the meanest defence with just 10 goals conceded

They have not yet conceded a goal in the first half of a PL match at home this season

Wigan win could seal remarkable escape after last weeks nailbiting win at home to West Ham

Wigan will have to overcome the 7th best home record in the PL this season, Stoke have 10 wins and four draws and just four teams have left with all three points

On the road have the 13th best record with three wins and seven draws to go with eight defeats

Stoke have the joint fewest draws in the PL this season with just seven compared to Wigan on 15, the joint most

Wigan have yet to beat Stoke in the PL in five matches, but four have them have ended in draws

Spurs and Birmingham both need the win for different reasons, ironically Spurs need it to get 5th place and a place in the Europa League which Birmignham already have after their CC triumph

Both teams need the points for different reasons  as Spurs look to hang on to their Europa League place and Birmingham fight to avoid the drop, although they are already in the Europa League

City will be looking for a repeat of their 3-2 win at the Lane back in December 2007 although the only player from that match who played last week for City was Sebastian Larsson

But that has been their only success of any kind away at Spurs with the home side winning the other five matches
