City reached the Semi Finals with two wins on the road and just one at home and outscored the opposition8/2 

They kept clean sheets against Birmingham (H) and Arsenal (A)

With Liverpool not in Europe this season they entered the competition a round earlier and have won all four of their matches this season on the road outscoring the opposition 9/3

Jose Reina, Jay Spearing and Maxi Rodriguez are the only players to start all four matches in the CC this season  

Suspended Man City captain Vincent Kompany has not been apart of any of City’s three CC matches this season

Suspended Luis Suarez is the leading scorer for either side in the competition with three goals, one more than City’s Edin Dzeko and Liverpool’s Maxi Rodriguez 

 

Competition History

 

Liverpool have won the competition a record seven times and appeared in a record 10 finals

Liverpool were last winners in 2003 beating Manchester United 2-0 at the Millennium Stadium, and last appeared two years later when they were beaten 3-2 by Chelsea after extra time

City have won the competition twice in three final appearances, their last win was back in 1976 with a 2-1 win over Newcastle United
